German in the Senior Cycle

German is taught at three levels in the Leaving Certificate Cycle



Bi-lingual Leaving Certificate (DLL / DM)

The DLL / DM course is aimed at students that have an advanced level of proficiency in the German language and they study History taught through German. This is a bilingual course that focuses on the German language, literature and history. This course is unique in Ireland and the certification is recognised for university entry in Germany by the German Ministry of Education. DLL / DM students have 6 periods per week.

Sprachdiplom (DS)

The DS course is aimed at students that have a high level of proficiency in the German language. This course prepares students to undertake 'Sprachdiplom II' exam. Sprachdiplom is a German Language Diploma at level B2/C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. In addition to this, students are also prepared for the Leaving Certificate. DS students have 6 periods per week.

Leaving Certificate (DL)

The DL course focuses on the Leaving Certificate course. DL students have 6 periods per week.
