Our under 13 boys team made the semi final of the league and cup and only had two defeats in the season when losing the semi finals. Our minor boys team also reached the semi final of the league and lost 2-1 to Mount Temple in a close encounter. Congratulants to David Kane and Shane Bourke who have been selected for the leinster under 16 team to play a South African schools team.

I want to thank Miss Sherriff and Mrs Collins who are doing excellent work coaching boys and girls in the primary school. The quality of the players coming to me on Fridays has risen considerably over the last five years .Great thanks to Mrs McCarthy for organising and umpiring matches for all the girls’ teams and for helping in selecting the player of the year. Many thanks to Daniel McFarlane who coached our under 16 boys and Mervyn McDowell who stayed on to assist us on Fridays and coach the under 13B team and not forgetting Eleni Henry who coached our minor girls.

End Of Season Mixed Tournament
We had 64 girls and boys at our end of season mixed hockey tournament. It was a joy to see nearly every hockey player attend. The pitch was a sea of boys and girls. A wonderful sight for a coach. Much fun was had and Alvaro Garcia's team beat David Kane's team in the final. Sincere thanks to all our boys and girls for attending.

Player of the year awards 2009/10
As we near the end of our hockey season we approach the time when we reflect on the players of the season.
A most difficult task as we have had many fine performances by several players at each age level. I judge player of the season on the following criteria, which players must show across the season.

1. Leadership on and off the pitch.
2. Skill. Consistent during all matches.
3. Something special to turn games. i.e. a save, a superb goal, a match saving tackle.
4. Attendance at training and matches.

Boys player of the year awards 2009/10

U13
We put two teams into the under 13 league this year. Our B team had some excellent performances with Dan Raymond, Hugh Perrette and Daoire Connolly having great games for the B team. Near the end of the season Robbie O Leary put in some stirring performances.

Our U13A team had a great season making the semi final of the league and cup . Led by captain Eric Prehn the squad had several boys from 6th. class in primary in the team. They are a pleasure to coach and full of enthusiasm. Several of the team are in for player of the season, so after a difficult decision I have whittled it down to these players. Captain and midfield general Eric Prehn , Goalkeeper Jake Linnane, Sweeper Samuel Hegner who is only in 6th. Class yet is calm and collected in defense. Jessie Kamm who was brilliant at right midfield Also in the mix for player of the year Dan Raymond from our 13B team. Picking a winner from these two teams was a difficult decision.

And the winner is… Jessie Kamm who was excellent in all our games. Just gets the nod ahead of Samuel Hegner, Jake Linnane and Dan Raymond.

U13 goal of the season
Eric Prehn against Newpark when he beat two players drove into the circle and smashed the ball passed the keeper.

U14( Minors)
Our under 14 team led by captain Alex Vitte had an excellent season making the quarter final of the cup and the semi final of the league. With only 5 second year boys in the team this was a great achievement. They were unlucky in the semi final as we were missing two star players James O Leary and Freddie Carew but still should have won with the amount of ball we had. We had some excellent performances. Captain Alex Vitte our centre mid. Jake Linnane in goals who was superb all season. Jessie Kamm our electric right wing and James O Leary who was consistent in every game and gave his all.

And the winner is ..... Jake Linnane who was brilliant in goals and kept us in games with his saves. Just pipping Alex and James.

U14 goal of the season
Lucas-Halwax-Sherry who swept home a short corner against Kilkenny which went right to Jessie and then back inside to Lucas.

U16 (junior)
Our under 16 team did themselves proud going down by the odd goal in the league final against Dundalk.
This team never give up and after going down 3-1 in the final stormed back with a penalty, converted clinically by David Kane to get us to 3-2 with 3 minutes to go. James Purcell and Alvaro were unlucky not to score to bring the game to extra time. We had some sensational performances from some of the players throughout the year. David Kane at centre mid was excellent. Sean Mullen who scored and made most of our goals. Shane Bourke who showed why he was picked for leinster with his brilliant goalkeeping.

And the winner is..... Sean Mullen who was brilliant at right wing making and scoring goals. Just pipping captain David Kane and Shane Bourke.

Goal of the year
David Kane when he swept home a short corner in the final to level the score. This was done under the severest of pressure.

Goalkeeper of the Year
Shane Bourke who made the Leinster team and who was outstanding this year. He gets the nod ahead of Jake Linnane.

Beginner of the year
Noah Delmonte who went in goals and was sensational for a beginner. A real star for the future.
ilians.
