Martin Savov, Karli Krobb, Jennifer Ryan, Marianne Grant and Gareth Leahy were very impressive all through the competition and have benefited enormously from their participation. Their involvement with Concern meant that they had personal contact with an organisation working in Haiti. As a result they decided to donate the profit from the 7th class disco, run by the Mentors, to the Concern Haiti Relief fund.

First Year Girls Win The League
What an exciting day out we had in Three Rock Rovers when our first year girls team went looking to win the league. With a full squad to pick from we were in a positive mood. The team was led in the parade onto the pitch by captain Anna Heisterkamp. The line up for the final. In goals Victoria Tarkovska, centre back Molly McCullough, sweeper Rhiannon O Connor, left back Molly Flynn and right back Emer Clissmann. In midfield on the left Eve O Leary, centre mid and captain Anna Heisterkamp and right mid Katie Mullen. Up front on the left Saoirse Weaver, centre forward Tara Junghenn and right wing Aine Burns. On the bench Aine Fellenz, Ellen Nolan, Leah Cullen,Nathalie Henry and Kate Chambers. Also at the game Paula Garcia and Catey Clarkson.
From the start we were under pressure from Muckross and our back four were working hard to keep Muckross from scoring. We were not marking or our midfield was not tracking back to pick up players. After 4 minutes we broke down the pitch when Anna broke and fed Katie Mullen who drove into the circle and drilled wide. Muckross came back and won a corner but Anna and Katie broke out to clear the ball away.
Rhiannon and Molly McCullough had their hand full with the pressure we were under but we held Muckross at bay. After 11 minutes we changed the formation. Ellen Nolan came on at centre back and Molly Mc McCullough moved to right midfield and Katie Mullen moved to right wing with Aine Burns moving to left wing. Suddenly we got going and Eve and Aine were causing problems on the left side. They were not letting Muckross out of their 25. After much pressure we won a corner . No 1 called and Tara swept the ball to Katie who raised the ball and it was a free out. After 17 minutes and more pressure we won another corner. No 4 called and Tara sent a rocket of a ball to Anna on the top of the circle. Before the runners got near her she switched the ball with a delicious pass to Emer Clissmann who swept a bullet of a shot across the keeper for a fantastic goal to go 1-0 up. What a goal!!! A great time to score just before the half ends. From the restart Anna took off down the pitch and we got inside the circle and won another corner. We went with no. 4 again but Muckross read it and cleared.
Halt Time St. Kilians 1 Muckross 0
From the start of the second half it was end to end with our midfield trying to dominate Muckross. Tara was once again all over the pitch closing down Muckross. Anna was trying to break quickly from frees. Eve O Leary was having a stormer on the left defending one minute and then charging down the side line lifting balls over defenders sticks and feeding great balls to Aine Burns. Our back four were being put under fierce pressure and Molly Flynn made a super tackle on the Muckross right wing just as she looked to be away and heading for goal. Rhiannon was stepping up and sweeping balls away .Ellen Nolan was glued to the centre forward and kept her quiet. Emer Clissmann was raiding down the right and getting back to cover when required.
Molly McCullough did a huge amount of work in midfield tackling all in sight. Victoria made a world class save in the 12th. minute when Muckross broke and looked to be going to score but Victoria saved the day with that brilliant save.
In the last five minutes we broke and Katie drilled a ball in but it was cleared. We held on for a great league win. Well done girls!!! This team made a commitment to excellence and honored it by coming training every Thursday and Friday and got their reward. To win with a short corner which we worked on every week was brillo. We had a big squad of players who all contributed to this success. When players were sick or injured others stepped
in and we continued to win match's. It is nearly impossible to pick a girl of the match so I am going to share the award between captain fantastic Anna Heisterkamp and Eve O Leary who were outstanding in midfield. Goal of the match and serious contender for goal of the season Emer Clissmann who drilled home the winner. Our captain made an excellent speech and Anna and vice captain Katie Mullen can be very proud of their role in this great win as they were the driving force behind the team in training and matches. They also kept me on my toes at training in their quest for the perfect short corner.
Thanks Girls for a great adventure and great fun!!!!

St Kilian’s Mini-Company Comes 2nd in Student Enterprise County Final Awards
Our trip started off at the bus stop where we took the bus to Dún Laoghaire. From there it was just a short walk up to the Royal Marine Hotel where the Enterprise awards were going to take place. All the mini-businesses were allocated a small stand and a table were they could set up a poster and a laptop. Throughout the day various schools and teachers would visit the event, stopping by the stands they found interesting. Most of the stands were actually selling their products apart from St. Kilian’s, as our idea was original and difficult to fully produce. We had made a prototype of the product. We designed a product that acts as an automatic light dimming function on cars. Its aim is to reduce light corruption when driving at night. Many people stopped and enquired about our product, as well as viewing our video.
At 2:15pm we had to present our product on a large stage in front of a substantial audience. Our presentation worked out very well and our short video got a loud cheer. Directly after the presentations my group members and I had to go back to our stand to be interviewed by judges who then marked us and picked the overall winners out of the businesses.
The judges that came to us were all different, some happy and interested, some seemed to be very unimpressed and looked as if they just wanted to go home, However for the majority of them we explained our product well and gave good quality demonstrations.
The day soon flew by and before we knew it was time for the awards to be given out. This added more tension, but we felt out of them all, the other Kilian’s group were our biggest competition. As the winners of our category were being announced great tension hung in the air as if this was the moment we had been working so hard for.
We were announced as second place! We couldn’t believe it, joy spread to us. Astonished, we trembled up to accept our prize, 250 Euro and a crystal vase which was presented to the school as a memorial of the day and of our great achievements. Unfortunately ICU (the other Kilian’s business group), which we felt had the strongest chance of winning did not finish in the top three. We all went home delighted and gutted at the same time.
My experience was one that I would definitely recommend and I feel throughout the journey I have learned many valuable skills which I can use later in life. We feel that none of our huge achievements throughout the course of the competition would have been possible without our always patient, helpful, constantly up-beat, happy and ever working business teacher, Ms.Ní Ghallchóir.

First Years Jump Over High School into League Final
Led by captain Anna Heisterkamp our 1st. year/6th. class team were looking forward to taking on High School in the league semifinal. Out of the team was Aine Fellenz who was ill ,but back in the team was our dynamic right mid and vice captain Katie Mullen. Katie has not played since we won the quarter final due to injury. Called into the squad Molly Mc Cullagh and Ellen Nolan to cover for Katie and Aine.
The lineup. In goals Victoria Tarkovska, centre back Ellen Nolan, right back Emer Clissmann, sweeper Rhiannon O Connor and left back Molly Whelan. In midfield on the right Molly Mc Cullagh, centre mid captain fantastic Anna Heisterkamp and left mid Eve O Leary. Up front on the right Katie Mullen, centre forward Tara Junghenn and left wing Saoirse Weaver. On the bench Nathelie Barnes, Paula Garcia, Aine Burns, Kate Chambers, Catey Clarkson and Leah Cullen.
From the start it was a huge battle in midfield with both sides trying to get on top. After 1min30 secs Anna Heisterkamp won a ball fed it wide to Katie who went on a run and drilled the ball wide.
High School started to attack but our back four stood up and Emer, Molly Ellen were glued to their players and Rhiannon swept up the loose ball. After 5 minutes Emer swept a ball down field and we won a free. Quick as a flash Anna Heisterkamp took off into the circle catching High School asleep and drilled home to put us 1-0 up. Back came High School and Eve O Leary had a massive battle with the High School right mid neither giving way. Tara was dropping into midfield and tackling all over the place. Ellen Mc Cullagh having her first game on a full pitch was excellent at right mid. Up front Saoirse was closing down the High School right back and Katie Mullen was settling in at right wing. Our defense was rock solid and we pushed forward as a unit. After 12 minutes on came Paula Garcia at left wing and Aine Burns at right wing. After 14 minutes and lots of pressure on High School we won a free and captain fantastic Anna Heisterkamp swept a quick ball to Katie Mullen who passed it back inside to Anna who finished to put us 2-0 up. It was super hockey. Emer Clissmann was having a stormer down the right setting up attacks.
Rhiannon was stepping up to pick up loose ball and sweep away. Ellen was glued to a very lively centre forward and Molly was marking the right wing tightly. After more pressure around the High School circle Anna won a ball fed Eve O Leary who returned it to Anna who skipped around a defender and passed a delicious ball to Paula who swept home to put us 3-0 up. A great goal!!!
Paula then hit the keeper and drilled wide all in the space of 3 mins. What a hat trick that would have been!!!.
Half Time St. Kilians 3 High School 0
We changed the team around again to give more people a game with Natalie and Catey coming on.
High School put us under huge pressure but we stood up to it. After 10 minutes Kate Chambers came on.
After 12 minutes Tara won a ball and fed Anna who drilled the ball to Kate who was on the left post and Kate swept home to put us 4-0 up.
Katie Mullen came off for a breather. after more pressure we won a corner and Emer was unlucky not to score. Katie came back on and went to centre mid with Anna going to centre forward. After 17 minutes Katie hit Anna with two great passes and Anna was unlucky not to score.
Final Score St. Kilians 4 High School 0
Well done girls!!!!
33 teams entered the league and we are in the final 2.
With half the team 6th. class this is an unbelievable result and great credit to Miss Sherriff and Mrs. Collins for producing these players. Thanks to Mrs. McCarthy for all her umpiring and organizing match's.
It is also the girls reward for making a commitment to excellence and coming training every Thursday.
We will work hard to get prepared for the final.
We now look forward to the final on March 16th. in TRR ground at 2pm.
Girl Of The Match Captain Anna Heisterkamp who scored 2 and made 2 goals.
When we needed a goal she did what all good captains do, produced the goods.
Goal of the Match Paula Garcia who swept home our third goal. She carried out her instructions to the letter.
Tom Parsons Hockey Coach.
Our under 16 boys went out of the cup against a very good Sutton Park 4-2.
After 4 minutes we should have scored but James Purcell blasted wide after good work by Alvaro.
Shane Bourke was outstanding in goals and showed his full range of skills against a very good forward line.
It was a cracking game and after going down 2-0 we scored a cracker to reduce the gap to 2-1. Sutton Park had the luck hitting the post twice to get goals . They scored a third after getting a short corner after the ball hit the post to go 3-1 up at half time.
After half time we lifted our game and Chris Reilly led the attack down the right. Sean Mullen was having a sensational game and when he got a pass from Alvaro Sean drilled a ball to James who scored to bring us back to 3-2. Sutton park went on to win 4-2.
Man of the Match Christopher Reilly
Goal of the match James Purcell.
Under 14s Bow Out Of The Cup
Our under 14 team were beaten 2-1 away to Kilkenny in the quarter final of the cup. This was a disappointing result as we had beat them 4-0 in the league last week. We never got going but with 10 minutes to go we lifted our game and had several short corners. Freddie Carew had an excellent game at right back as did Finn Schonfeld at left back..
Luca Frishauf came off the bench to score an excellent goal after 15 minutes.
James O Leary had his best game of the season driving down the right side all day and setting up attacks.
He also got back to tackle. We were very disjointed and gave away two easy goals against a team we beat easily a week ago.
Man of the Match James O Leary
Goal of the Match Luca Frischauf
