Junior Girls Beat Ladies

Our junior girls had an excellent win over Our Ladies Grove on Saturday. Led by captain Sadhbh-H-Logan we started really well in this game. Victoria Tarkovska stepped up for her debut in goals at junior level and had a super game, making some great saves. At the back Martha, Ailbhe, Julia and Andre were excellent keeping Holy Child. Our midfield of Molly, Orla, Sadhbh and Sarah Carroll worked really hard to get on top. Up front Aisling Meagher was back and flying getting lots of shots at goal ably assisted by Anna Carew. On the bench Katie and Tara came on to play well.
We scored after 2mins when Aisling won the hit out fed Anna who swept home for an excellent goal. We were well on top and nearly scored again after 15 mins. when Sadhbh fed Orla Clissmann who passed to Anna who swept the ball just wide of the post. After 20 mins. we scored a cracker of a goal from a short corner when Sarah swept the ball out to Sadhbh and Sadhbh moved the ball quickly to Aisling who drilled home to put us 2-0 up.

Half Time St. Kilians 2 The Grove 0

In the second half we started well getting 2 quick corners with both saved by the Groves keeper.
After 15 mins. The Grove broke and Victoria made a great save to clear the ball away. After 20 mins. we won a corner and Sadhbh scored a cracker to put us 3-0 up. Again 2 mins. later Sadhbh scored a beauty from another corner to put us 4-0 up. With 1 minute to go Sadhbh got her hat-trick when she went on a mazy run from the half way line beating 3 players and drilled a ball home to seal the win 5-0.

Final score St. Kilians 5 The Grove 0

Girl of the Match
Aisling Meagher who was out for months injured and came back firing on all cylinders to give us extra firepower up front and scoring a cracker. Well done Aisling!!!

Goal of the Match
Sadhbh when she ran the length of the pitch to get the final goal. This is a contender for goal of the season.

If we make a commitment to excellence and honor that commitment we have won the battle with ourselves. We will also win some!

Be a Sheppard not a sheep.

Junior Boys Run Riot In Temple

Having lost our previous match due to 5 boys missing, we went into this match with a full squad determined to get back to winning ways. The line up Shane Bourke in goals center back Donal Burns, sweeper Alex Vitte, left back Rory McCullagh and right back Roger Gonzalez. In midfield on the right Chris Reilly, on the left Hue Rees and center mid and captain David Kane. Up front on the left Moritz Weltz, on the right Lukas Hegner and starting at center forward Sean Mullen. On the bench James O Leary and Lucas-H-Sherry. From the start Mount Temple put us under pressure but Donal, Alex, Rory and Roger stood up to the pressure. After 5 minutes we scored a gem of a goal from a free hit. David drilled in a cracker and Hue Rees swept home to put us 1-0 up. We started to play lovely hockey with David, Chris Hue and Sean moving the ball quickly we started to cut Temple open. After 12 minutes we scored again when David drilled home to put us 2-0 up. With David Kane pulling the strings we scored again after 17 minutes when Chris Reilly fed Lukas Hegner who squared the ball to Sean who blasted home to put us 3-0 up. After 25 minutes we scored a delicious goal, when Moritz swept home a bullet of a cross to put us 4-0 up. Moritz was again unlucky not to score and David Kane drilled wide.

Half Time St. Kilians 4 Mount Temple 0

From the start of the second half we tore into Mount Temple. They had a hit out and Sean ran at the hitter who fluffed the hit. Quick as a flash the ever-improving Hue Rees won the ball and slipped a delicious pass to Sean who made no mistake drilling home from 5 meters to put us 5-0. Lucas-Halwax-Sherry came on with James O leary and both got stuck in. Back came Mount Temple but our back four Roger, Alex, Donal and Rory kept them out and Shane Burke showed when necessary why he was picked for leinster. Roger started to raid down the right working with Chris and eventually we scored again when James O leary made a great run drilled a ball across the goal and Lukas Hegner smashed the ball passed the keeper to put us 6-0 up.

Final score St. Kilians 6 Mount Temple 0

Man of the match: Hue Rees who is the most improved player and playing left mid had a super game. Just pipping Sean and David.

Goal of the match: Sean Mullen who drilled home the fourth goal when Hue won the ball from a hit out. Sean is now scoring lots of goals and I am reviewing his target of 8 up to 12 for the season.
