Halloween is just around the corner which means it is almost time for our midterm break. It will be a different break for us all this year, just as the term we are now finishing has been different. We came back to school at the beginning of the school year with some trepidation, so many new protocols, rules and regulations, all amid concerns about how the children would react after so many months at home. I am delighted to report that the children have adapted wonderfully and it is a joy to see them coming into school in the morning, smiling and skipping through the gate.
I would like to thank all parents for being so understanding of all the new rules – masks, no access to the building etc. – by working together we have so far managed to keep Covid-19 at bay. On that point I have been surprised to hear of trips to Northern Ireland and “down the country”. It is very important that we all keep to the present restrictions – none of us like them but to give ourselves the best chance of keeping Covid -19 out of the school we need to work together. I would also ask you to consider that play dates and sleep overs during the holidays are not appropriate under the Level 5 restrictions that the whole country is now under. Please give a thought for your child/children’s teachers who are working with numerous children on a daily basis and then going home to their own families.
Despite the restrictions the work of the school has continued and the teachers are happy with the progress the children are making. Reports for Primary School pupils will be available from this Friday afternoon on Aladdin Connect. Please use the link you received yesterday so that you can access your child/children’s report – if you did not receive a link please contact me.
Whilst we are not anticipating another lockdown it would be remiss of us not to be prepared for the possibility. For Primary School pupils you have already received an email with the login details for your child to use Teams – please contact me if you have not received this information – it is different to Aladdin Connect. Work will be uploaded to Teams and daily live lessons will take place through Teams. For Kindergarten we will use Seesaw and Zoom.
Your child has been given some materials to bring home – it will differ from year to year but may include books, Art boxes, maths materials and pencil cases. Please replenish any materials missing in the Art boxes and or pencil cases and bring everything back to school on 2nd November 2020.
I hope you all have a lovely midterm break – lots of walks and fresh air! Remember keeping to the restrictions will help to keep the schools open for everyone.
