In a ceremony held at the EU Parliament Office in Dublin on May 9 – Europe Day – St. Kilian’s Deutsche Schule and the Lycée Français International Samuel Beckett were recognized jointly as European Ambassador Schools (EPAS). This award certifies the work of both schools in promoting European values in their teaching and extracurricular activities.
These include hosting a Model European Council for schools from across Ireland in December 2024, as well as running a similar simulation for all 8th class Eurocampus CSPE students in spring 2025. LFI and St. Kilian’s students were also selected to represent Ireland for a trip to the EU Parliament in Strasbourg for Euroscola, and a delegation representing Spain was invited to the Model European Council event hosted by the EU in Dublin Castle. This extracurricular work has been supported through class work, such as a new EU module rolled out across all 9th class CSPE students.
In the presence of Members of the European Parliament Lynn Boylan, Regina Doherty, and Ciaran Mullooly, the Head of the European Parliament Liaison Office Fearghas Ó Béara presented the award to a group of students selected as EU Junior Ambassadors based on their stellar work in the EU/MUN club throughout the year. Students Evelyn Lilly O’Sullivan and Etienne du Manoir de Juaye were selected to represent Eurocampus with a speech on the EPAS activities 2024-25.
The plaque awarded will be displayed on the school grounds and will be an inspiration for European activities for years to come.
