On 28 April, a group of 10th and 11th class Students and staff from St. Kilian’s Deutsche Schule Dublin visited the Embassy of Japan in Ireland ahead of their upcoming trip to Kyoto.
During their visit, they explored Japanese culture, etiquette, and cuisine, and even picked up tips on navigating Japan’s world-famous public transport system. They also tried their hand at Japanese calligraphy and did very well.
The students were delighted to meet Ambassador Miyagawa Manabu, who greeted them and praised their writing skills. The Ambassador also introduced the students to “Hyakunin Isshu”, a traditional card game similar to ‘Snap,’ where players race to snatch a card with a particular Japanese poem (“Tanka”) written on it. We wish the students a fantastic and memorable trip to Japan!
