On Friday, 2nd of May 2025, all 8th class students took center stage in Shamrock Hall as they represented one of 27 EU countries in the first ever 8th class Model European Council. Organized and run by the EU/MUN club, this event allowed 8th class students to take on the role of Ministers and Heads of State, and engage in passionate debate on issues such as trade, climate change, and Democracy.
The event was honored by the presence of real-life diplomats Mr. Xavier D’Argoeuves, Cultural Counsellor at the French Embassy in Ireland, and Dr. Wolfram von Heynitz, Cultural Attaché at the German Embassy in Ireland, who offered inspiring opening remarks. MEP Barry Andrews, Member of the European Parliament, delivered a closing address, congratulating students on their engagement and insight.
Most importantly, the experience provided an opportunity for the students to experience negotiation, leadership, and teamwork first-hand in the context of European cooperation.
