Today we welcomed over fifty excited 1st Class pupils, along with our newest Kindergarten (Junior and Senior Infant) children, as they began their school journey. Each 1st Class child arrived proudly carrying a Schultüte – a colourful cone decorated by the children themselves and filled with sweets and small presents by parents. This German tradition is unique to St. Kilian’s and helps make the first day of school even more special.
After a warm welcome from Mrs Black, Head of Primary School and Kindergarten, the children met their new teachers, Frau Cremin and Ms Garcia. After a short introduction in their classrooms, they excitedly opened their Schultüten, which was a highlight for many.
The morning concluded with a First Day of School Picnic, generously organised by our Parents’ Association. It is a wonderful opportunity for children and their families to get to know each other, share stories, and celebrate the beginning of this new chapter – made even better by the beautiful sunshine!
We wish all our 1st Class pupils, new to Kindergarten (Junior and Senior Infant) children and all our students a fantastic start at St. Kilian’s and a happy school year ahead.
