On Thursday 4th December 2025, the Primary School Green School Committee had a visit from Chris at Precious Plastic Dublin, who turned our Assembly Area into a mini recycling lab. Students rotated through four hands-on stations, learning how everyday plastic waste can be transformed into something new. At the Bottle Cap Mural station, we worked together to create colourful art from discarded caps. At the Plastic Identification Challenge, we explored different types of plastics and sorted them like real recycling experts. At the Filament Station, we were shown how to make filament for 3D printing from plastic bottles. The biggest excitement came at the Precious Plastic Creations station, where Chris showed us how plastic can be melted and moulded. Some of us even helped crank the machines and reveal our own recycled planter pots!
We finished the session by reflecting on what we learned and how each of us can take small steps to protect our planet. Thanks to Chris, we discovered that recycling isn’t just important, it’s creative, fun, and full of possibilities.
