On April 20th, 2026, all 8th Class students from the Eurocampus took part in their first Model European Council Conference, held in Shamrock Hall. Representing one of the 27 EU member states, students stepped into the roles of Ministers, delegates, and Heads of State, gaining a hands-on experience of diplomacy in action.
The conference was organised and led by members of the EU/MUN clubs from St. Kilian’s and the LFI. Throughout the day, students engaged in lively debates on European topics, including defence, taxation, migration, democracy, trade, and climate change. Across three negotiation rounds, participants worked within committees to develop essential skills such as negotiation, leadership, and teamwork, all within the framework of European cooperation.
The event was honored by the presence of distinguished guest speakers. Following a welcome address from the principals of St. Kilian’s and the LFI, TD Maeve O’Connell delivered inspiring opening remarks. She was joined by Mrs Isabella Neisinger, Cultural Attaché at the German Embassy in Ireland, and Aurélian Allaire, Project Manager for educational cooperation, Francophonie, and sport at the French Embassy. Each speaker commended the students for their engagement and highlighted the importance of young voices today and in future.
Congratulations to the EU/MUN Club members for organising such a successful and wonderful event and well done to all participating students for their enthusiasm and outstanding contributions.
