This week Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (Feb 23rd-25th 2026), we welcomed Martin Hahn, a children’s book author, for a series of engaging and inspiring reading sessions to St. Kilian’s. Originally from Austria and now living in Cameroon with his family, Martin Hahn is a passionate children’s author whose stories spark imagination, nurture courage, and encourage children to believe in their unique talents. To date, he has published three children’s books:
- The Carrot Tree – Conny Pony’s Adventure (co-author Jonathan Mittermair)
- Paula Panda – The Bamboo Magic Wand (co-author Denis Nunekpeku)
- Theo Thede – A Story About the Unique Dreams and Talents in Each of Us
Martin discovered his vocation during a volunteer school project in Cameroon. Deeply moved by his experiences there, he founded the “Happy Kids” association, and in 2018 he built the Happy Kids Academy in Buea, Cameroon. The school continues to provide education with dedication and heart to orphans and children from low-income families.
The children in Kindergarten to Second Class enjoyed ‘The Carrot Tree’, a story of Conny the Pony, who dreams of a tree full of carrots despite being told that ‘There is no such thing!’ With her friend Carlo the cat by her side, Conny sets off on a journey filled with adventure, surprises and small miracles. The story is not only funny and made the children laugh but also carries a message that dreams can come true with courage and perseverance.
For the older children up to 6th class, Martin Hahn had brought the book “Theo Thede – A story about the unique dreams and talents in each of us”. In the Story a boy called Theo Thede who embarks on a fascinating journey to discover his talents and develop his full potential with joy.
Each reading session concluded with a creative activity, where the students illustrated their biggest dreams helping them to imagine what they would like to do. A heartfelt thank you to Martin Hahn for a memorable visit and for sharing his stories with us, and to Frau Zahn, from the German Department for organising this special event.
