It was an exciting morning on Tuesday, 13th of October 2026, for our Transition Year (TY) students as they went to UCD Cinema to watch the German film Morgen Irgendwo am Meer and meet its director, Patrick Büchting.
Following the screening, students had the fantastic opportunity to take part in an engaging Q&A session with the director, asking questions about the making of the film, the challenges involved in bringing the story to life, and the inspiration behind the project.
Morgen Irgendwo am Meer follows a group of friends on a road trip that unfolds as a journey of self-discovery, a quest to find their own paths in life, true love, and friendship. The film was awarded ‘Best German-Language Children’s and Youth Film’ at the 2024 Schlingel International Film Festival.
Our students thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to gain first-hand insights into the world of filmmaking and to hear about the creative process directly from the director. As filmmaking is one of the modules offered as part of our TY programme, this experience was particularly valuable for students with an interest in film and media production.
A heartfelt thank you to Director Patrick Büchting for taking the time to meet our students and share his knowledge and experiences. We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the German Embassy and Mr Strauchmann, the Culture, Press and Economic Affairs Officer, for making this wonderful opportunity possible and for joining the session. It was an inspiring and enriching experience for our TY students, combining language, culture and creativity while giving them a valuable insight into the world of cinema.
