The primary school team beat RMDS 3-2 in the quarter finals of the cup to qualify for the semis where they will meet St Marys.
Having fallen behind to two early goals in the opening fifteen minutes, the St Kilians boys had to dig deep and were rewarded when they received a lifeline back into the game with the award of a penalty after Federico Ruis Montaya was upended in the box. He duly despatched the spotkick to the net and, following that, Seamus Saul Rotne burst down the right wing and delivered a great cross that was received by Phillip Maier. He turned the defender in close proximity and shot to the bottom corner to level the scores. St Kilians had the better of the exchanges in the second half but penalties were looming with only minutes remaining when Finn Redmond played a precision pass to Jorge Nash. He beat the incoming defender and shot high to the net. Despite a late surge by RMDS, St Kilians’ defence stood firm, marshalled by Filip Mikovic and Gabriele Esposito in midfield, to win the game.
