We are delighted to congratulate all our candidates who successfully completed the Deutsches Sprachdiplom (DSD) examination 2025 and were awarded their certificates at a special ceremony on October 1st, 2025.
We were honoured to welcome our distinguished guests: Ms Isabella Neisinger, Cultural Attachée at the German Embassy; Ms Sherry Ishak from the German Department at UCD School of Languages; and Mr Gregor Botlik, Vice Chair of the Board of Management. Alongside school principals Mrs Meier and Mr Macmillan, they warmly congratulated the candidates on their outstanding achievement and commended the dedication and hard work that went into preparing for the exams.
The speakers also highlighted the many benefits of learning German and other foreign languages. In her address, Mrs Meier quoted philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein: “The limits of my language mean the limits of my world.” Ms Neisinger added that learning another language is not simply learning the same words in a different language, but to get to experience the culture.
Our thanks go to the guests of honour and to all parents for their attendance. We would also like to thank the Primary School Choir for their wonderful musical contributions, led by Ms de Alcantara. We were also treated to wonderful piano performances by our talented students Can (12th class) and Jack (9th class). A big thanks to Helen and Chloe, both from 9th class for sharing their personal reflections on preparing for the Sprachdiplom exams.
Congratulations once again to all our students on this remarkable milestone, and thank you to Mrs Haupt and Dr Baum-Sheridan, Heads of the German Department, for organising a celebration enjoyed by all.
