This morning, Saint Nicholas paid a wonderful surprise visit to the children in Kindergarten and in Classes 1 and 2. He shared kind notes about what he had heard of their efforts throughout the year. The children were very happy to see him and thanked him with their favourite St. Nicholas songs. Before continuing his journey, Saint Nicholas left a small present for each child, which he handed to the teachers for distribution. Dankeschön, Herr Nikolaus! We look forward to seeing you again next year!
St. Nicholas Day is a lovely German tradition and a highlight of our school calendar which is celebrated annually on December 6th. Saint Nicholas, historically a bishop known for his generosity, offered support to the poor by secretly leaving gifts such as food, clothes, and toys at their doorsteps. Today, children remember his kindness by placing a shoe or stocking outside their door on the evening of 5 December, hoping Saint Nicholas will visit while they sleep. Happy Saint Nicholas Day to all!
