Congratulations to the members of the joint LFI / St. Kilian’s EU & Model United Nations Club and to all students involved in the second edition of our in-house Model European Council (MEC) Conference 2025, hosted on Monday, 24 November 2025 at the Eurocampus Dublin by St. Kilian’s Deutsche Schule and the Lycée Français International Samuel Beckett.
This year’s event brought together over 100 students from across Ireland, including several delegations from both schools. Participants represented a European country of their choice and engaged in discussions and negotiations on major European issues, including safeguarding democracy, immigration, and the use of AI in governmental services.
We were delighted to have welcomed several distinguished guests who added greatly to the programme. The conference opened with an inspiring address from Mr Fearghas Ó Béara, Head of Office at the European Parliament Liaison Office. His remarks were followed by valuable insights shared by Mrs Isabella Neisinger from the German Embassy and Mr Xavier d’Argoeuves from the French Embassy. Later in the afternoon, Mrs Sinéad Gibney (TD) contributed further perspective by speaking about current EU-related debates within the Dáil.
The second edition of our MEC Conference once again proved to be an excellent opportunity for students to explore pressing European topics and to experience politics in action. We extend a warm thank-you to our organising committees for their dedication, to all participating delegations for their engagement, to our teachers for their ongoing support, and to our guest speakers for sharing their expertise on Europe and democracy.
Well done to everyone involved for making this event a success!
