What a wonderful first morning at St. Kilian’s German School! Today, we were delighted to welcome our very excited 1st Class pupils, and all new to Kindergarten (Junior Infants) children, for their very first day at St. Kilian’s.
Continuing a wonderful German tradition, our 1st Class pupils arrived proudly carrying their Schultüten (“school cones”) – large, beautifully decorated cardboard cones that the children make themselves during their final weeks in Kindergarten. These are then filled by parents with treats and little gifts to make the first day of school a little bit brighter and a little bit sweeter.
After a short address by the Head of Primary School and Kindergarten (acting), Mrs Black, and an initial introduction with their new class teachers Ms Browne and Ms Purcell, the children got to open their Schultüten, before joining their siblings and parents and our new to Kindergarten children for the 1st Day of School Picnic, an event kindly organised by our Parents’ Association. Thank you to our Parents’ Association and to everyone who helped make this morning such a special start to the school year.
