On Tuesday evening, 11th November 2025, St. Kilian’s Kindergarten children, Primary School Pupils up to 2nd class and their parents and teachers came together to celebrate our beloved St. Martinsfest which is one of the most anticipated events of the school year. In the days leading up to the event, the children were busy preparing songs and rehearsing. On the evening, they then proudly carried their colourful lanterns in a beautiful procession around the school grounds and sang traditional Sankt Martin songs. After a short walk, the celebration continued in the Secondary School courtyard with a re-enactment of St. Martin’s story performed by 2nd Class pupils. We finished off with a series of Sankt Martin songs led by our amazing Junior Orff Choir and their Teacher Ms de Alcantara, and some gingerbread treats, Glühwein, and hot chocolate, kindly organised by the Parents’ Association.
A heartfelt thank you to all Kindergarten and Primary School teachers, members of the Parents’ Association, and of course to our wonderful students and parents for making this evening so memorable.
Celebrating Sankt Martin is a cherished tradition in Germany, honouring the Saint’s kindness and generosity. At St. Kilian’s, we are proud to keep this tradition alive through our own lantern procession, songs and retelling the story of St. Martin.
