Over 80 students were awarded their DSD Sprachdiplom certificates during a special ceremony yesterday afternoon — a wonderful celebration of their hard work, dedication and fantastic achievement!
We were delighted to celebrate this important milestone with their families and staff, alongside our honoured guests: Mrs Neisinger, Cultural Attachée at the German Embassy; Mrs Battes from the Goethe-Institut Ireland; Dr Donovan and Ms Rautenberg from the German Department at UCD School of Languages; Mr Botlik, Chair of the Board of Management; and the Principals and Deputy Principals of St. Kilian’s and the LFI.
Our guest of honour warmly congratulated the candidates on their outstanding achievement and commended their dedication to learning a different language. In her address, Mrs Meier quoted a Chinese proverb “To Learn a language is to have one more window through which to see the world”, while Mrs Neisinger also highlighted that “learning a different language is more than words, it is also about human connections.”.
A heartfelt thank you goes to all our guests of honour, parents and student speakers, Íosold and Harry from 9th Class, as well as our talented musicians, Ixchel (8th Class) and Yizhou (11th Class), and the Primary School Choir with their lovely rendition of “You Can Count On Me” by Bruno Mars, led by Ms Tatzer for their wonderful contributions that helped make the afternoon such a special and memorable celebration.
Congratulations once again to all this year’s DSD Sprachdiplom graduates on this wonderful milestone! And a special thank you to Mrs Haupt and Dr Baum-Sheridan, Heads of the German Department, for organising such a memorable occasion. Herzlichen Glückwunsch!
